Thread-forming screws for plastics and metals – chipless and secure
Thread-forming screws from OEB are ideal for direct fastening in plastics and metals – without any chip formation. When screwed in, they form a process-reliable, resilient internal thread that reliably holds even under high loads. Whether thermoplastic, thermoset, aluminum or steel: Our screws impress with high torsional strength, durable connection and easy-to-install handling – also available at short notice in larger quantities.
Your Benefits at a Glance
Chipless grooving without material loss
No nuts or cutting operations
Minimal radial stress in the material
High torsional strength and holding power
Shorter and lighter screws possible
Target groups & areas of application
Thread-forming screws are ideal for applications where reliable direct fastening is required without chips and additional threading steps. In plastics and light metal processing, they ensure stable, maintenance-free connections and enable short assembly times – even with demanding component structures.

Overview of turned parts and alternatives
In addition to our thread-forming screws, we also offer suitable turned parts for direct screwing, thread-cutting versions and special solutions according to drawings. This means you get the right technology for every connection situation – from a single source.
Thread-forming screws individually tailored to your requirements
Do you need thread-forming screws that are precisely matched to your component, the material used or your assembly technology? OEB develops and manufactures screw solutions that are individually tailored to plastic and metal connections – for maximum process reliability, long durability and optimum assembly properties. Whether for thermoplastics, thermosets, light metals or die-cast parts: We precisely match the shape, geometry, material and surfaces to your application. Typical individualizations:
- Special dimensions in length or thread diameter
- Material-adapted thread forms (e.g. KTG double thread, DIN 7500)
- Screws for very thin wall thicknesses or delicate components
- Specific drives for automated assembly processes
- Adapted end processing or screwing behavior
Materials & Standards
We manufacture thread-forming screws from steel, stainless steel, aluminum, brass and other light metals – tailored to the requirements of the material used. All manufacturing steps are carried out according to DIN 7500, DIN 13 or material-specific standards for direct screwing. On request, we also develop material-adapted special solutions with industry-specific test and verification documents.

Specifications
Our thread-forming screws cover a broad spectrum: For plastic applications, we offer OEB-Plast and KTG screws with 30°/60° threads, single or double-start. For metals (e.g. DIN 7500), metric versions from M2–M10 are available. We use case-hardened or tempered steel, stainless steel 1.4567 and non-ferrous metals as materials. Common drives are slotted, Phillips, Torx, internal hexagon, Iseka and others. The head shapes range from hexagon to countersunk to flange head. Surfaces are e.g. galvanized, nickel-plated, Delta-Tone, Dacromet or Geomet – all according to VDA standard. Special dimensions, end processing and post-processing can be realized on request. Documentations such as EMPB, VDA or PPAP are available on a project-related basis.
